Executive Director, EDG

Ernesto D. Garilao (EDG) is the Executive Director of the AIM – TeaM Energy Center for Bridging Societal Divides.  He is a core faculty member (on-leave) of the W. SyCip Graduate School of Business and the former Associate Dean of the Center for Development Management of the Asian Institute of Management (AIM). Before coming to the AIM, he served as the Executive Director of the Philippine Business for Social Progress from 1971 to 1992, and as the Secretary of the Department of Agrarian Reform from 1992 to 1998 under the administration of former President Fidel V. Ramos. He was also the Vice-Chairperson of the Social Reform Council, then the highest policy-making body for the Philippines’ anti-poverty program from 1994 to 1998. Today he is affiliated with the boards of several social development organizations in the Philippines.

EDG’s major area of interest is in public sector leadership and management.  He holds a Master in Management (With Distinction) from the Asian Institute of Management and a Master in Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Science from the Ateneo de Manila University.
